IEEE Focus on COMPSAC: Big Data & the Internet of Things, a Special Event Co-located at SEMICON West

LOS ALAMITOS, Calif., 16 May 2018 - IEEE Focus on COMPSAC: Big Data & the Internet of Things is set to take place on July 10 at SEMICON West in San Francisco, and will feature key presentations and discussions by leaders in Big Data and the Internet of Things, from COMPSAC (IEEE International Conference on Computers, Software, and Applications).

IEEE Focus on COMPSAC offers SEMICON West attendees the opportunity to learn from and interact with award-winning practitioners and researchers in two important and related areas of computer technology – Big Data and the Internet of Things.

This two-hour event offers highlights from speakers and research presented at COMPSAC, the IEEE Computer Society's annual signature event.

With presentations and discussions led by the industry’s top thinkers in Big Data and the Internet of Things, attendees will be exposed to the results of cutting-edge research and emerging issues and practices, and will be able to pose questions and engage with speakers in a compelling and invigorating discussion.

Thought leaders include:

Dejan Milojicic, Moderator

A distinguished technologist at Hewlett Packard Labs, Palo Alto, CA, Dejan’s areas of technical expertise includes operating systems, distributed systems, and systems management. Dejan has published over 180 papers and 2 books, has 25 granted patents, and over 50 patent applications. Dejan was 2014 President of the IEEE Computer Society, and is an IEEE Fellow, ACM Distinguished Engineer, and USENIX member.

Lisa Guess, Panelist:  “Big Data and Networking Considerations”

Lisa is currently the Vice President Systems Engineering at Juniper Networks, providing leadership and driving the technology vision for the Enterprise and Service Provider Sectors.  Lisa is also a Board Member of ATIS (Alliance for Telecomm Industry Solutions) and a member of the Technical Advisory Committee of the FCC.

Steve Eglash, Panelist:  “The Convergence of AI, Data Science, and IoT”

Steve is Executive Director of Strategic Research Initiatives in the Computer Science Department at Stanford University.  Steve develops and manages research programs in data science and artificial intelligence, bridging research and industry, including the Stanford Data Science Initiative and Artificial Intelligence Lab.
