IEEE Computer Society to Provide Educational Materials to Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic

LOS ALAMITOS, California, 23 April 2015 – IEEE Computer Society, IEEE Computer Society has signed an Educational Partnership Agreement with the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SSC) Atlantic to support creation of a computer science educational benchmark for the Center’s computer science and software engineering professionals.

The agreement calls on IEEE Computer Society to create a baseline to evaluate the software engineering knowledge of future scientists, engineers, and military officers, as well as current members of the workforce. In addition, IEEE Computer Society will provide certifications and educational refresher materials for the Center’s scientists and engineers.

"This will give the Center an additional mechanism to credential its workforce through a credible certification process," said Evan Butterfield, IEEE Computer Society Director of Products and Services. "I'm delighted and proud that the Center has chosen to recognize the Computer Society's efforts to develop excellent educational products for technical training and assessment."

"SPAWAR Systems Center, Atlantic is proud to engage in the benchmarking efforts for these new certifications,” said Andrew Mansfield, SSC Atlantic’s Executive for Network Centric Development & Integration, and Chief Engineer. "It reinforces our commitment to supporting and evolving a credentialed workforce, and enables us to contribute to these fields of study as a whole.  This initiative also builds relationships that will shape our future community of Engineers and Scientists. We look forward to this engagement with the IEEE’s Computer Society."
