IEEE Computer Society Digital Library Terms of Use

IEEE, the IEEE Computer Society, and its licensors own all rights, title and interest in the contents of the CSDL including all IEEE Computer Society journals, letters, magazines, periodicals, transactions, conference proceedings and standards. Access to and use of such content is subject to the terms and conditions of applicable license agreements, United States copyright law and international copyright laws and treaties.

The sharing of passwords or documents with unauthorized users is strictly prohibited.

You agree that the processing of your personal data is done to facilitate your voluntary participation in scientific activities through IEEE. You understand that IEEE’s processing of your data is necessary for the purposes of these activities.

Terms of Use for Institutional Subscribers

Institutional subscribers are permitted to do the following:

  • View and search the content in the CSDL.
  • Download documents and files.
  • Print individual articles from the CSDL.
  • Distribute the printed article to a student, faculty member, employee, or other authorized user as defined in your institutional license agreement.

Institutional subscribers are NOT permitted to do the following:

  • Allow anyone other than a Licensed User to access or use the CSDL.
  • Display or otherwise make any information from the CSDL available to anyone other than a Licensed User.
  • Transmit electronically, via e-mail or other file transfer protocols, any portion of the CSDL.
  • Use robots or intelligent agents to access, search and/or systematically download any portion of the CSDL.
  • Use any portion of the CSDL for document delivery, fee-for-service use, or bulk reproduction or commercial distribution of materials in any form.
  • Alter or modify any portion of the CSDL.
  • Delete or remove in any form or format, including on a printed article, any copyright information or notice contained in the CSDL.
  • Reproduce or redistribute any portion of the CSDL or combine any portion of the CSDL with any other material.
  • Create an archive of any portion of the CSDL.
  • Use or enable artificial intelligence technologies and tools to ingest, train, test, analyze, process, copy, distribute, make publicly accessible, and/or generate output based on the Licensed Products (or any material included therein), or upload, copy, or host the Licensed Products (or any material included therein) to or for use in artificial intelligence technologies and tools directly or indirectly (e.g., through the use of third-party plugins, extensions or decentralized custom chatbots associated with those artificial intelligence technologies and tools).
  • Use any portion of the Licensed Products in combination with an artificial intelligence tool, including to train an algorithm, test, process, analyze, generate output and/or develop any form of artificial intelligence tool.
  • Integrate any portion of the Licensed Product(s) with other material or otherwise create derivative works (including resulting from the use of artificial intelligence technologies and tools) in any medium. However, brief quotations for purposes of comment, criticism or similar scholarly purposes are not prohibited herein.
