LOS ALAMITOS, Calif., 1 June 2026 – The IEEE Computer Society (CS), the world’s leading computer science and engineering member community, is pleased to announce it has hired a new executive director: Rebekah Stacha. Stacha is a strong leader with nearly 30 years of experience in non-profit engineering associations. As the new IEEE CS Executive Director, she will focus on advancing IEEE CS’ mission to better serve the world through the fields of computer science and engineering.
“We are thrilled to welcome Rebekah to the Computer Society community,” said Grace A. Lewis, IEEE CS 2026 President. “After an extensive search, the committee identified Rebekah as the ideal candidate, with her strong background of both engineering and association leadership. We know she will accelerate our impact as we take our programs and services to the next level.”
Most recently, Stacha served as chief executive officer of the Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE), where she led the development of a three-year strategic plan, initiated a governance task force to align regional leadership with global strategy, spearheaded initiatives to enhance SAMPE's reputation as a technical authority, and streamlined collaboration with international organizations. Prior to her tenure at SAMPE, Stacha spent 24 years at the Society of Petroleum Engineers in progressively senior roles, with a particular emphasis on publications.
A graduate of the Mays School of Business at Texas A&M University with a degree in management, Stacha is a Certified Association Executive (CAE) and is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Council of Engineering and Scientific Society Executives, Society of Scholarly Publishing, and American Society of Association Executives.
Stacha will join the IEEE CS team on 8 June, starting just prior to the next Computer Society Board Meeting.
Engaging computer engineers, scientists, academia, and industry professionals from all areas of computing, the IEEE Computer Society sets the standard of excellence and champions global advancements to benefit humanity.
