It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Arnold Spielberg on 25 August 2020, at the age of 103.

Arnold was a true engineering pioneer, as well as the father of renowned film director, Steven Spielberg.

Specifically, Arnold was an electrical engineer of uncommon invention and productivity. He developed research that made modern life possible – contributing to personal computers, electronic library systems, cash registers, and beyond.

Arnold found himself in the spotlight when his son, Steven Spielberg, grew in popularity. Steven was inspired by his father’s life and stories, and even recruited him to lead the development team of the digital Shoah Institute archives, organizing over 100,000 hours of visual history after founding the USC Shoah Foundation – The Institute for Visual History and Education.

Arnold Spielberg left a legacy that will be remembered for generations.
