In Memoriam: Chris Weaver

It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of Dr. Chris Weaver on Sunday morning, June 29, 2025. Chris had been an invaluable member of our community, serving as the Associate Editor-in-Chief for IEEE Computer Graphics and Applications since 2024 and contributing as a dedicated member of the editorial board for many years prior. He was also an associate professor with the School of Computer Science at the University of Oklahoma. His research had focused on bringing people, data, and visualization together through visual interaction and coordination approaches that support open-ended scholarship, with a more recent emphasis on applications in the digital humanities.

His passing has deeply affected all who had had the privilege of working with him and learning from him. Chris was not only a brilliant scholar but also a thoughtful collaborator and a significant creative force within the data visualization and computer graphics community. His leadership and insights significantly shaped CG&A and positively influenced countless students. His absence will be keenly felt across the field, and he will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and colleagues.
