CLOSED: Special Issue on State of the Art in Computer Graphics and Applications in the Asia Pacific Region

Important Dates

  • Submission Deadline: 23 February 2026
  • Publication: September 2026

Over the past few decades, the Asia Pacific region has become one of the most vibrant and influential areas for computer graphics research and development. Countries such as China, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore have established strong academic and industrial ecosystems that have advanced visualization, interactive techniques, digital content creation, computer animation, and human–computer interaction. These contributions range from fundamental research to large-scale commercial applications and have had a significant global impact.

For IEEE Computer Graphics and Applications (CG&A), this special issue represents a strategically important opportunity to highlight Asia Pacific as a major driver of worldwide innovation. By featuring both established leaders and emerging talent, the issue will connect regional advances with the international community and provide readers with a comprehensive view of the technologies, trends, and creative practices shaping the future of computer graphics.

Topics of Interest

We welcome submissions that showcase the latest research and applications from Asia in all areas of computer graphics and related fields. Relevant topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Modeling, rendering, and animation
  • Visualization and visual analytics
  • Virtual reality
  • Computational photography
  • Computational fabrication
  • Interactive techniques and user experience design
  • Digital content creation and cultural computing
  • Digital humans and avatars
  • Applications of AI and machine learning in graphics

New Submission Category: Perspective and Overview Papers

In addition to traditional research and application articles, this special issue also welcomes Perspective and Overview papers. These contributions provide forward-looking insights, synthesize emerging trends, or present comprehensive overviews of specific subfields within computer graphics and related areas. Authors are encouraged to consider this category when submitting, as it offers an opportunity to highlight unique regional directions, collaborative initiatives, and future research challenges shaping the Asia Pacific computer graphics community.

Submission Guidelines:

For author information and guidelines on submission criteria, visit the Author’s Information Page. Please submit papers through the IEEE Author Portal and be sure to select the special issue or special section name. Manuscripts should not be published or currently submitted for publication elsewhere. Please submit only full papers intended for review, not abstracts.

In addition to submitting your paper to IEEE CG&A you are also encouraged to upload the data related to your paper to IEEE DataPort. IEEE DataPort is IEEE's data platform that supports the storage and publishing of datasets while also providing access to thousands of research datasets. Uploading your dataset to IEEE DataPort will strengthen your paper and will support research reproducibility. Your paper and the dataset can be linked, providing a good opportunity for you to increase the number of citations you receive. Data can be uploaded to IEEE DataPort prior to submitting your paper or concurrent with the paper submission. Thank you!
