Ernesto Cuadros-Vargas

Dr. Ernesto Cuadros-Vargas is a full professor and former dean of Computer Science in Peru (2005–2020), where he led the academic program for 16 years. He is the founder and former president (8 years) of the Peruvian Computer Society, and served as Executive Secretary of the Latin American Center for Informatics (CLEI) for 8 years (2009–2016). He is currently a Distinguished Speaker of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) for the 2025–2027 term.

He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science (ICMC) at the University of São Paulo, Brazil, in 2004. During his doctoral studies, he conducted joint research projects with Carnegie Mellon University (USA) in 2001 and the Technische Universität Berlin (Germany) in 2002.

Dr. Cuadros-Vargas has been the *only Latin American member* of the ACM/IEEE-CS Computing Curricula CC2020 Steering Committee and also served on the Steering Committee of the ACM/IEEE-CS Computing Curricula for Computer Science (CS2013). He was a member of the IEEE Computer Society Board of Governors from 2020 to 2023.

He has served as advisor to the Minister of Education and as direct advisor (ad honorem) to the President of the Republic of Peru (2016–2018). He is also an international accreditation evaluator.

A remarkable achievement of his academic leadership is that he has produced *more graduates working at Google worldwide than all other Peruvian universities combined*.

Prof. Cuadros has been invited as a speaker at numerous international events in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, the United States, Canada, Russia, Japan, China, India, Spain, Morocco among other countries.
