Martonosi 2018 Technical Achievement Award

LOS ALAMITOS, Calif., 13 February 2018 – IEEE and ACM Fellow Dr. Margaret Martonosi has been selected to receive the IEEE Computer Society 2018 Technical Achievement Award, “for contributions to power-aware computing and energy-constrained mobile sensor networks.” Martonosi is the Hugh Trumbull Adams '35 Professor of Computer Science at Princeton University, where she is also director of the Keller Center for Innovation in Engineering Education. Martonosi's research interests are in computer architecture and mobile computing, with particular focus on power-efficient systems. Her work has included the development of the Wattch power modeling tool and the Princeton ZebraNet mobile sensor network project for the design and real-world deployment of zebra tracking collars in Kenya. Her current research focuses on hardware-software interface issues in modern computing systems, including tools for quantum computing. Among numerous awards, she received the 2010 Princeton University Graduate Mentoring Award and the 2013 Anita Borg Institute Technical Leadership Award.  Several of her papers have been honored for their long-term impact, including the 2015 ISCA Long-Term Influential Paper Award, the 2017 ACM SIGMOBILE Test-of-Time Paper Award, and the 2017 ACM SenSys Test-of-Time Paper Award. The IEEE Computer Society Technical Achievement Award is given for outstanding and innovative contributions to the fields of computer and information science and engineering or computer technology, usually within the past 10, and not more than 15, years. Contributions must have significantly promoted technical progress in the field. The award consists of a certificate and a $2,000 honorarium, and will be presented at the 2018 Computer Software and Applications Conference (COMPSAC) sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society. The conference will be held from 23 to 27 July 2018 in Tokyo, Japan. View more information about the Technical Achievement Award, including a list of past recipients.
