IEEE CS Authors, Speakers, and Leaders Named to Inaugural TIME100 Most Influential People in Artificial Intelligence List

LOS ALAMITOS, Calif., 14 November 2023 – The IEEE Computer Society (CS), the leading computer science and engineering member community providing best-in-class publications, conferences, and programs, announced that eight IEEE CS authors, speakers, and leaders were named to the 2023 TIME100 Most Influential People in Artificial Intelligence (AI) List. The inaugural TIME100 AI List honors the 100 most influential people in AI around the world.

“Artificial intelligence is one of the fastest growing and potentially most transformative technologies in computer science and engineering,” said Melissa Russell, Executive Director, IEEE CS. “That’s why it continues to be a central focus for our community. Through our conferences, programs, and publications, we’re honored to bring together the scientists and engineers driving AI advancements and its responsible use, support research and development, and help the community realize the full promise of AI. Congratulations to all of those on the TIME100 list; we look forward to seeing their continued impact.”

This list of IEEE CS-affiliated individuals included in the 2023 TIME100 AI List includes:

  • Yejin Choi, Professor, University of Washington /CVPR 2023 and CVPR 2020
  • Pushmeet Kohli, Vice President of Research, Google Deep Mind/ CVPR 2020
  • Yann LeCun, Chief AI Scientist, Meta/ ICCV 2023
  • Fei-Fei Lei, Professor, Stanford University/ CVPR 2021
  • Arvind Narayanan, Professor of Computer Science, Princeton University/IEEE Computer Society Digital Library (CSDL) Author
  • Dan Hendrycks, Executive Director, Center for AI Safety/ CVPR 2022
  • Elham Tabassi, Associate Director of Emerging Technologies, NIST/ Former IEEE CS Member and IEEE CS Author
  • Raquel Urtasun, CEO and Founder, Waabi/ CVPR 2023

The 2023 TIME100 Most Influential People in Artificial Intelligence List was compiled by TIME editors and reporters based on recommendations from industry leaders and expert sources, and subsequent nominations that were whittled down to the list of 100 individuals. The result is a list of 100 leaders, shapers, innovators and thinkers who are driving and influencing today's AI landscape.
