CG&A invites Perspective and Overview Paper (POP) submissions for its peer-reviewed feature article queue. This category includes both retrospective works such as surveys and tutorials, and forward-looking pieces that identify open challenges or offer viewpoints on the direction of the field. These papers aim to highlight the state-of-the-art in core and emerging areas relevant to the CG&A readership.
We are interested in high-quality submissions in the following forms:
Focus and Scope
To provide a broad overview or educational introduction to a mature area of research or practice, aimed at CG&A’s general readership.
Focus and Scope
To present a viewpoint on emerging trends, technologies, or challenges, and to stimulate discussion or reflection on the future of the field.
Focus and Scope
To summarize the current state of a fast-developing subfield and identify likely future developments, challenges, or opportunities.
Focus and Scope
To provide a tightly focused review of the most advanced developments within a specialized research niche or technical area.
Focus and Scope
To advocate for a specific research direction, methodological stance, or policy related to computer graphics and applications.
All POP submissions must address one or more of CG&A’s core topic areas, such as computer graphics, data visualization, virtual reality, and interactive techniques. Submissions will be treated as peer-reviewed research papers (either regular or special-issue papers) and will follow CG&A’s standard peer-review process, as outlined on CG&A’s author guidelines page.
We welcome POP submissions from both academia and industry, including contributions from researchers and practitioners.
Authors should prepare their POP submissions following CG&A’s guidelines for the Peer-Reviewed Research Papers category, not the Department Articles category, as described on CG&A’s author guidelines page.
POP submissions may include up to 40 references, which is more than allowed in other CG&A submission categories. To ensure proper processing, please note in your cover letter that the manuscript is a POP submission, specify which of the five POP types it targets, and indicate that it is permitted up to 40 references. If the topic does not fit neatly into a single POP category, authors may designate up to two categories for their submission.
