Call for Papers: AI-Driven Advancements in Bioinformatics for Life Science

IEEE Transactions on Computational Biology and Bioinformatics seeks submissions for upcoming issues.

Important Dates

Submission Deadline: 31 March 2026

Publication Date: June 2026

This IEEE Transactions on Computational Biology and Bioinformatics Special Issue aims to publish original manuscripts focusing on novelties and applications on AI based technologies for boosting Bioinformatics application. Publication is scheduled for Summer 2026.

Candidates for this issue are also papers that received high review scores in ACM BCB 2025 reviewing process and/or that the presentation at the ACM BCB 2025 conference received positive feedback and that generated discussion on the main topic of this SI.

This issue also aims to reserve room for new submissions that may fit with the SI main topic. The SI aims to contain up to a total of 8 papers.

In case of ACM BCB conference papers, manuscripts should contain at least 70 % of original contents.

Review processes will be managed following the TCBB standard review process. For papers presented at ACM BCB 2025, the extended version will be reviewed by at least one BCB 2025 Technical Program Chairs to guarantee a rigorous process of manuscript improvement.

Submission Instructions:

For author information and guidelines on submission criteria, please visit the Author Information page.  Please submit full papers through the IEEE Author Portal system,  and be sure to select the special-issue or special-section name. Manuscripts should not be published or currently submitted for publication elsewhere. Please submit only full papers intended for review, not abstracts, to the IEEE Author Portal. All submitted manuscripts will undergo a single-anonymous peer review.

In addition to submitting your paper to IEEE Transactions on Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, you are also encouraged to upload the data related to your paper to IEEE DataPort. IEEE DataPort is IEEE's data platform that supports the storage and publishing of datasets while also providing access to thousands of research datasets. Uploading your dataset to IEEE DataPort will strengthen your paper and will support research reproducibility. Your paper and the dataset can be linked, providing a good opportunity for you to increase the number of citations you receive. Data can be uploaded to IEEE DataPort prior to submitting your paper or concurrent with the paper submission. Thank you!
