Joint Multi-Society Data Center Webinar on October 6
The four largest IEEE Societies, Communications Society, Computer Society, Power & Energy Society, and Signal Processing Society, are co-sponsoring a new multi-part webinar series titled “Data Centers: Technology, Policy and Impact.” Two webinars are planned for this year, with the series continuing into next year.
The inaugural webinar is scheduled for Tuesday, 6 October at 8AM PT/11AM ET/UTC -04:00. Dr. Ricardo Bianchini, Technical Fellow and Corporate Vice President at Microsoft Azure, will present “Challenges and Opportunities in Data Center Power and Sustainability in the AI Era.”
His talk will focus on managing power, energy, and sustainability for expanding AI infrastructure. At Azure, Dr. Bianchini leads the team responsible for workload management, server capacity, and datacenter infrastructure with an emphasis on efficiency and sustainability. He is a Fellow of both IEEE and ACM.

IEEE CS TFDC Hosts First Technical Salon of 2026 in Beijing
The first technical salon of IEEE CS TFDC (IEEE Computer Society Task Force on Servers and AI Data Centers) in 2026 was successfully held in Beijing on May 14. Jointly organized by IEEE CS TFDC and the Beijing Institute of Open Source Chip, the event featured keynote presentations by Xinyu Zhang and Yan Xu from the Xiangshan team titled “Exploring AI in Long-Horizon Task Work and Xiangshan Application Practice.” The presentations focused on practical approaches to integrating Agentic Coding with hardware verification, highlighting software-based toolchains, open-source ecosystem frameworks, and intelligent collaboration mechanisms. The discussion explored potential solutions for improving automation throughout the hardware verification workflow and enhancing engineering efficiency. The salon was conducted in a hybrid format, attracting more than 150 participants from both online and onsite audiences.
