The December edition of the PAMI-TC newsletter

This month's topics include:

?1. Farewell Message from the TC Chair
2. Call for Participation: WMV/WACV 2013
3. Call for Participation: FG 2013

Thank you for the opportunity to serve the PAMI community as the TC chair for the last
3 years. We have the most technically vibrant community that has consistently focused
on quality and value for both its conferences and journals. Structurally, we have a
vigorous democratic setup; major decisions are made in the open with approval from all
members present. This is unlike other communities that rely on a closed group of
persons to take major decisions. Anybody who attends PAMI TC sponsored conference is a
PAMI-TC member and can participate in the decision making.

We have accomplished a lot in these past years. In particular, I would like to point
out two major accomplishments. First, is the formalization of the CVPR and ICCV
conference bidding process to allow for informed decision making, with properly put
together proposals and enough time for deliberations. Second, is the formalization of
charters for our main conferences, CVPR and ICCV. Believe it or not, we did not have a
written charter that was approved by the TC. We now have one for CVPR and the ICCV
charter is in the works. I am sure this will be on the agenda for the next team.

Thanks to the TC officers, Bryan Morse, Walter Scheirer, Song Wang, and Antonio
Robles-Kelly for their hard work and support. Also, without the support and advice of
the TC Steering Committee and Conference Committee members it would not have been
possible to perform my duties.

Ramin Zabih will be your next TC chair starting Jan 2013. I wish the best for the next
team. Let us all work together to make PAMI a model scientific community that focuses
on quality, value, and openness.

Happy holidays and best of the season,

Sudeep Sarkar
