Reviewers Sought for Graduate Reference Curriculum

LOS ALAMITOS, Calif., 9 January, 2012 – The newest version of the Graduate Reference Curriculum for Systems Engineering is now available for review.

Version 0.5 of the GRCSE can be downloaded for review at http://www.bkcase.org/grcse-05/. Reviewers are invited to download the most recent document and enter comments using the form provided on the website by 7 March.

The graduate curriculum describes a program for a professional master’s degree that focuses on developing student ability to perform systems engineering tasks and roles. It was developed by the Body of Knowledge and Curriculum to Advance Systems Engineering (BKCASE) author team to support the needs of the systems engineering community for better graduate education.

GRCSE combines recommendations for master’s-level graduate programs in systems engineering with guidance to help universities implement the recommendations. GRCSE draws from BKCASE’s Guide to the Systems Engineering Body of Knowledge (SEBoK), which addresses key knowledge areas and includes references from the systems engineering literature. Version 0.5 of SEBoK was released in September 2011.

According to the GRCSE’s preface, “Professional society participation in the creation of the project is essential to ensure that it has the desired impact on global graduate education.”

The IEEE Computer Society, along with the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE), has provided representatives to serve as authors on GRCSE. The two societies are exploring how to assume responsibility for maintaining GRCSE after the Version 1.0 documents are published.
