TPAMI to offer OnlinePlus Subscription Option

LOS ALAMITOS, Calif., 9 July, 2010 – Beginning in 2011, IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence will offer two subscription options: the traditional print plus online or OnlinePlus.

IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence will cost US $77 for a print plus online subscription, and US $49 for the new OnlinePlus option—a savings of nearly 35 percent. The monthly scholarly journal publishes research about traditional areas of computer vision and image understanding, all traditional areas of pattern analysis and recognition, and selected areas of machine intelligence.

The OnlinePlus publication model is a hybrid of online only and print, giving subscribers the best of both worlds—online access plus a printed book of article abstracts and a searchable interactive disk that gives readers the flexibility of accessing content anywhere without needing to be online, a benefit for those readers with limited Internet access.

In addition to containing the papers in their entirety, the interactive disk will also contain supplemental materials that are usually only posted online in the Computer Society Digital Library (CSDL). Providing an additional venue for supplemental materials could encourage authors to submit multimedia files more often, leading to a richer content for research.
