I am happy to announce that for 2012, membership dues will not increase and Computer Society membership is still only US$99. You, along with thousands of other Computer Society members, make us the community we are today. We value your membership and look forward to your continued participation and involvement in 2012.

New! Software Engineering Membership Package
Designed to give software engineers a comprehensive value-added membership package, this special program will be available in October 2011 for new members only. Launching in Fall 2011 – IEEE Tech Smart Metro Area Workshop Series IEEE Smart Tech Metro Area Workshop Series offers participants a unique learning experience with topics on the cutting-edge of technical innovation today. These two-day seminars focus on providing an opportunity for participants to learn first-hand from field experts. Each workshop is a springboard to a deeper understanding of technology and its myriad applications and potential for innovation. The workshops will be held in Austin, Texas, 21 - 22 October 2011, and Huntsville, Alabama, 4 - 5 November 2011. Each workshop will include a “Software Engineering Essentials” track, with content provided by the Computer Society. Register now for one of these new professional workshops.
The OnlinePlus™ publication model gives you more content for even less money. In addition to online access, subscribers receive an abstracts-only book and an interactive disk containing complete papers along with all the supplemental files. Alpha Version of Updated SWEBOK Available in Late 2011
The Guide to the Software Engineering Body of Knowledge (SWEBOK) is being refreshed, with new knowledge areas (KAs) added and others revised. The revision is designed to perfect the correspondence between the SWEBOK Guide, the Software Engineering 2004 curriculum guide, and the Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP) certification. This refresh will include adding a KA on professional practices and adding “foundation” KAs on related subjects that software engineers learn about during their undergraduate education. Launched in 2011! President’s Discussion Corner
The President’s Discussion Corner allows both members and nonmembers to communicate with the current IEEE Computer Society president. Each month a short video blog about an issue, announcement, topic of interest, or controversy is posted on www.computer.org, with an invitation from the president for comments or discussion. The videos and discussions are archived and available for revisiting throughout the year. Check out the current blog.
2012 Student Member Package
The special student member package for undergraduate, graduate, and non-traditional students pursuing degrees part-time will again be offered in 2012.Students get IEEE and IEEE Computer Society membership plus free unlimited access to the Computer Society Digital Library (CSDL) for just US$40. Current IEEE members can add Computer Society membership for as low as US$8. Through this package, student members have access to a wealth of resources from authoritative publications covering all areas of computing. In addition to over 4,100 conference publications, CSDL includes access to all Computer Society periodicals and the complete archives. Computer Society student membership offers many great benefits, including access to development software from Microsoft.
