About the IEEE Computer SocietyWhat is the IEEE Computer Society?With nearly 85,000 members, the IEEE Computer Society is the world's leading organization of computing professionals. Founded in 1946, and the largest of IEEE's 38 societies, the Computer Society is dedicated to advancing the theory and application of computing and information technology. The Computer Society serves the information and career-development needs of today's computing researchers and professionals with books, conferences, conference publications, magazines, online courses, software development certifications, standards, and technical journals. Known worldwide for its computer-standards activities, the Computer Society promotes an active exchange of ideas and technological innovation among members and technology companies producing today's innovative products and services. With about 40 percent of its members living and working outside the United States, the Computer Society fosters international communication, cooperation, and information exchange. About the Corporate Affiliate ProgramWhat is CAP?The Corporate Affiliate Program allows companies to purchase a subset of IEEE Computer Society products and services for a single annual fee, and make them available to their employees. The employees enjoy individual access much like full IEEE Computer Society members, with free access to training and benefits, as well as membership-level discounts on other products and services. Employees receive free access to the e-Learning products, monthly newsletter, and monthly digital edition of Computer magazine, and can access their benefits via a company portal. Why have we become members of CAP?Your company purchased CAP to deliver a valuable employee benefit. Access to free e-learning training modules, Brainbench exams, Safari Books Online, and the digital edition of Computer magazine are valuable tools to support employee development and growth. Web AccountsHow do I retrieve my password?To retrieve your password, select log-in, then select “Forgot your username and Password.” You will then be prompted to enter your username and answer your security question. Once this has been answered correctly, your password will be e-mailed to the account that is on file. If this does not work, you can contact Customer Service at (800) 272-6657 or (714) 821-8380 or caphelp@computer.org. How do I retrieve my username?In most cases, your username will be your company email address. How do I change my password or password security question?Once you have logged in, from your Computer Society home page, select the Control Panel. Follow the instructions given to change either your password or your password security question. e-Learning CoursesHow do I update my Element K profile?To update your Element K profile, please contact Customer Support at caphelp@computer.org or 1 (800) 272-6657 for assistance. IEEE Computer Society MembershipWhat additional benefits would I receive by becoming a full IEEE Computer Society member?
For additional information, please visit the Membership Benefits Page. How do I apply for a membership to become a full IEEE Computer Society member?You can apply for membership Online, via Fax, or by Mail. Applying for membership online at the IEEE Computer Society web site gives you immediate access to online member benefits. Please allow 6-8 weeks for processing if you apply via fax or mail. You will receive a welcome kit along with your member number in the mail after about 4 weeks. You will not be able to register for an IEEE Web Account or utilize any online member services until your application has been fully processed even if you have your membership card. Computer MagazineHow do I access the current issue of Computer Magazine?Each month, you will receive an email notification (such as a newsletter) notifying you that the digital edition is available. Included in that e-mail will be links to either view or download the current edition. How do I access prior issues of Computer Magazine?Select the link at the bottom of the newsletter to access prior issues. You can also find out if your company has a shared access point that is available to you. How do I unsubcribe from the CAP Newsletter?Select the link at the bottom of the CAP newsletter notification and confirm your request when the subsequent window appears. How can I access Computer Magazine and/or the CAP Newsletter if I have unsubscribed from the monthly e-mail?Once you have unsubscribed from the monthly newsletter that contains your link to Computer Magazine, you may access it again by contacting caphelp@computer.org or 1 (800) 272-6657 to either begin receiving the monthly newsletter again or to find out if your company has a shared access point that is available to you.
