EAB News & Information

The IEEE Computer Society and IEEE Educational Activities Board are developing a new online resource to be launched in 2012, which will offer global computing education resources for pre-university teachers, school counselors, parents and students. TryComputing.org will build upon the successes of its counterpart TryEngineering.org, to raise awareness and interest about computing and associated careers. Funding for TryComputing.org is generously provided by the IEEE New Initiatives Committee. In developing resources for TryComputing.org, a lesson planning competition will be held in 2011 to establish engaging computing classroom activities for pre-university students. Open to IEEE Student Members and IEEE Graduates of the Last Decade, successful entrants will receive an award of $1000 US, a congratulatory letter and their plan included on the new IEEE TryComputing.org Web site.
