Computer Society R1 Chapter Training (R10 Hyderabad, India Training PDF)
By Nita Patel (email@example.com) and Jim Ziobro (firstname.lastname@example.org)
In order to establish better communications with the Computer Society (CS) chapters in Region 1 and to provide basic training on CS resources and chapter chair responsibilities, Nita Patel and Jim Ziobro presented six hours of CS training at the recent Region 1 Training Workshop in Binghamton, NY from August 13-15, 2010.
Jim and Nita presented the training material to 16 chapter chairs, chapter vice-chairs and section officers in attendance. Although the training was a pilot program held within Region 1, attendance was extended to chapter chairs from neighboring sections in Region 7 and Region 2. Several officers from outside of Region 1 also attended.
Training topics included an overview of the CS and how it fits into the IEEE structure; CS Resources including DVP, MVP, CSDP/CSDA certification and newsletters; chapter basics covering how to form a chapter and requirements for meetings; a discussion on chapter meetings ideas and corporate sponsorship/partnership ideas. The training presentations are available at http://bit.ly/bH9D6D. In addition to the presentation slides, the Chapter Chair Reference guide and the Chapter Chair Position Description are available for download at this link.
John Daniel, CS Staff, requested 30-60 second, video testimonials from attendees on why they joined the computer and/or how they benefited from CS membership. Due to time constraints, we did not get a chance to record any testimonials. If you have a story to share, send your video clips to John at email@example.com. These video clips may be posted to the CS website and shared with individuals considering membership.
