Technical Committees

Technical Committee on Mass Storage Systems
The TC on Mass Storage Systems (TCMS) is involved with the organization, storage and retrieval, and hardware requirements of large data collections. Unconventional data collections and processing systems are considered in addition to the conventional types, including special-purpose CPUs, mass storage devices, operating systems, and languages. The TC offers tutorials and workshops each year on these and other current topics.

Standards Committees

Storage Systems Standards Committee
This SSSC sponsors all Storage System standards activities within the IEEE through the Computer Society. These activities may include full-use and trial-use standards; guides; recommended practices; and study groups.

I/O Research Group, University of Minnesota
The main focus is on empirical studies of high-end storage subsystems for scientific, entertainment, and large database applications. These empirical studies are intended to test the capacity and performance scalability of I/O subsystems and associated software such as device drivers and file systems.
Parallel Data Lab
Our research addresses a broad spectrum of storage-related challenges, including storage security, emerging technologies, disk characterization and modeling, efficient storage access, storage networking, and network-attached storage clusters.
The Tertiary Disk Project
Tertiary Disk is a storage system architecture which exploits the trends mentioned above to create large disk storage systems that avoid the disadvantages of custom built disk arrays.
