Technical Committees

Technical Committee on Real-Time Systems
The TC on Real-Time Systems (TCRTS) addresses hardware and software issues related to the use of computers in real-time data systems, operating systems, processing of acquired data, database management, process control, data acquisition networks, industrial systems, and data communications in both distributed and parallel computing environments. It organizes and sponsors the Real-Time Systems Symposium and other workshops on real-time systems. The TC publishes a quarterly electronic newsletter.

Confrences

4th International Workshop on Security in Systems and Networks (SSN 2008) 18 April 2008, Miami, Florida, USA.
The SSN workshop will occupy one full day of the International Parallel and Distributed Processing Symposium (IPDPS) 2008. There will be no separate registration for the workshop. All accepted papers will be published in the same printed abstract volume and CD-ROM proceedings as other workshops and the IPDPS 2008 conference by the IEEE Computer Society Press and the IEEE online library.

13th Annual International Conference on the Theory and Application of Cryptology & Information Security (ASIACRYPT 2007) 2 - 6 December 2007, Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia.
The International Conference on the Theory and Application of Cryptology and Information Security, ASIACRYPT is sponsored annually by the International Association for Cryptologic Research (IACR). Formal proceedings, published by Springer-Verlag, will be provided to registered attendees at the conference. Technical sessions will run from Monday morning to Thursday noon, with a non-technical activities half-day on Tuesday afternoon. The customary Rump Session will run as usual on Tuesday evening.

Organizations relying on the Internet face significant challenges to ensure that their networks operate safely. And that their systems continue to provide critical services even in the face of attacks. Denial of service, worms, DNS, and router attacks are increasing. To help you stay one step ahead of these and other threats, the IEEE Computer Society has published a new periodical in 2003, IEEE Security & Privacy magazine.

IEEE Pervasive Computing delivers the latest peer-reviewed developments in pervasive, mobile, and ubiquitous computing to developers, researchers, and educators who want to keep abreast of rapid technology change. With content that's accessible and useful today, the quarterly publication acts as a catalyst for realizing the vision of pervasive (or ubiquitous) computing, described by Mark Weiser nearly a decade ago. The essence of this vision is the creation of environments saturated with computing and wireless communication, yet gracefully integrated with human users. Many key building blocks needed for this vision are now viable commercial technologies: wearable and handheld computers, high bandwidth wireless communication, location sensing mechanisms, and so on. The challenge is to combine these technologies into a seamless whole. This will require a multidisciplinary approach, involving hardware designers, wireless engineers, human-computer interaction specialists, software agent developers, and so on.

IEEE Distributed Systems Online aims to promote professional awareness of developments, trends, activities, and editorial coverage in the distributed systems field and provide online support for Internet Computing and Pervasive Computing. IEEE DS Online hopes to serve as a springboard for building a stronger distributed systems community and offer researchers, students, educators, application developers, and program managers a forum for sharing ideas and discussing projects.

Journals

The IEEE Transactions on Dependable and Secure Computing is a new quarterly that will publish archival research results focusing on research into foundations, methodologies, and mechanisms that support the achievement_through design, modeling, and evaluation_of systems and networks that are dependable and secure to the desired degree without compromising performance. The focus also includes measurement, modeling, and simulation techniques, and foundations for jointly evaluating, verifying, and designing for performance, security, and dependability constraints.
