Isaak Ends Term as 2010 President

LOS ALAMITOS, Calif., 4 January, 20011 – James D. Isaak ended his term as 2010 Computer Society President by stating that the organization’s long-term strategic objective should be to establish a relationship with every related professional worldwide.

In his outgoing message in Computer magazine, he thanked the new Membership and Geographical Activities Board for serving as a driving force in boosting membership numbers in 2010 and applauded those who organized the annual awards ceremony. Isaak also noted that in the past year software engineering certification has taken on new visibility with the US setting up a process to formally license software engineers.

Remarking on publishing’s move from print to digital, Isaak said it’s important to retain the implicit branding that occurs when papers are accepted by top journals or conferences, while at the same time developing opportunities to serve professionals more selectively.

During his term, Isaak championed the establishment of online communities. To join an existing community or to start your own, visit
