What are the qualifications for Computer Society membership?

What are the qualifications for joining the IEEE?

Because of the different levels of membership offered by the IEEE, it is better to call them direct using the toll-free number +1 800 678 4333 or +1 732 981 0060. Or click here for additional information.

What are the benefits of joining the Computer Society?

Individuals may join the Computer Society alone or in conjunction with the IEEE. IEEE membership benefits include subscriptions to IEEE Spectrum and The Institute; access to IEEE technical and educational activities; and personal, financial, and insurance programs.

What are the advantages of adding IEEE membership?

  • Automatic subscription to IEEE Spectrum and The Institute.
  • Discounts on conference registrations.
  • Discounts on books.
  • Financial advantage program that may include insurance, no fee Visa and MasterCard, mutual funds, and loans depending on your place of residence.

For further information contact the IEEE at +1 800 678 4333 or +1 732 981 0060.

Do I sign up for a full year or half year?

Membership is annualized to and expires on December 31. Between 16 August and the last day of February, only full-year applications are accepted and membership plus subscriptions run from January to December.

Between 1 March and 15 August, only half-year memberships are accepted. Membership and subscriptions begin in July and end in December, but all online benefits and services are available as soon as we process your application.

I want a subscription to one of your periodicals, but I don't want to be a member of the Computer Society.

If you are a member of another technical organization, sister society subscriptions are available.

What are the library subscription prices, and why the discrepancy in pricing?

Library rates are traditionally much higher than individual rates for all periodicals.  A library is providing a subscription for many readers as opposed to one.

What are the qualifications for student membership?

Student membership in the Computer Society requires an IEEE student membership. To qualify for student membership in the IEEE you must:

  • Carry at least 50% of a normal full-time academic program.
  • Be a registered undergraduate or graduate student.
  • Be in a course of study in an IEEE designated field.
  • Join Now!

I am a full-time student, and I want to join just the Computer Society.

It is a requirement of the IEEE that students join both the IEEE and Computer Society. Students can find more information here.

I want to sign up over the phone or on the Web.

A signature is required on membership and subscription forms. As a result, you can not sign up by phone. You may sign up online and obtain immediate access to online member services and periodicals.

Do you accept purchase orders or can you invoice?

Prepayment is required. We do not bill and cannot accept purchase orders.

I want to renew my membership.

This can be done by calling IEEE at +1 800 678 4333 or +1 732 981 0060 and providing them with a credit card number. For fastest service, renew online now.

I want to become a member in order to take advantage of a lower rate for attending a conference.

It takes 6-8 weeks to process an application. If there is not enough time remaining before the conference begins and you want to join to take advantage of the lower rate for members, you must contact the conference registration office of the conference you are planning to attend to ensure a photocopy of the application along with the registration form is acceptable.
