Website look

In order to make any changes to this website, it is necessary to know some information about the system in which we are working with.

What kind of CMS is this?

What features are enabled, this should be a rather large list?

Who has access to the admin side of this website to make those changes?

What web languages does this CMS support?

To what extent will custom modules and components be allowed?

Does this CMS allow for Social Media integration?

I am a SME in designing, building, and configuring websites, thus I offer my services as an admin, but I do not like updating daily content as I am way too busy for that.

Dade, please see the answers below:

What kind of CMS is this?
--> this is LifeRay -- please see the LifeRay tips from the link on the bottom of the Home page: http://www.computer.org/cc

What features are enabled, this should be a rather large list?
--> we (the volunteers) cannot have admin rights, this is why for example we are waiting on CS staff to implement the JOIN button

Who has access to the admin side of this website to make those changes?
--> currently Group Leads have owner access and can add/edit on user level; I can request you to have owner rights if you want to explore what can be done

What web languages does this CMS support?
--> Life Ray supports many languages, but as stated above we cannot program on admin level; we can write snippets of HTML and JavaScripts

To what extent will custom modules and components be allowed?
--> if you can figure out how to plug in such using the user level we are on, that would be great

Does this CMS allow for Social Media integration?
--> in general yes; let me know if you want to explore and I will request you to have owner rights.

Your help will be greatly appreciated!!!

I Would you like to suggest that we revise/update the home page to suit of general visitors and to attract their interest.

1. To start with, on the first page you may simply have all or most of information on the new CC STC flyer. Also provide link to PDF of the flyer (when it is ready for release).

2. Create a new Page for “Members/Volunteers” only (with link from home page), and move the Current Meeting Documents and Calendar to that page. Currently anyone can have access and read the minutes, your presentation slides (of our internal discussion) – I think it is better to make it accessible by Members/volunteers of CC STC ONLY. I think it is advisable not to expose internal discussions among members and staff experts to others.

Thank you, San! Yes, we have to discuss your ideas for changes.

We surely have to make the home page more attractive and decide on which information to be accessible only to members/volunteers.

Currently some important documents are already set up to be accessible only to members, others are accessible even only to Group Leads. We can do these kind of changes easily.
