San Murugesan is is a corporate trainer, researcher, academic and author. He is Editor in Chief of IEEE IT Professional; Director of BRITE Professional Services, Sydney; and adjunct professor at Western Sydney University, Australia. He is a former Senior Research Fellow of the US National Research Council, at NASA Ames Research Center, California, USA.

Dr Murugesan has developed and delivered multilevel certification and training programs in the Internet of Things, cloud computing and green IT and gave several invited seminar and keynotes on a range of topics in professional meetings and conferences around the world. In a career spanning over four decades in industry and academia, he lead successfully several innovative IT projects, provided leadership in research and development, and offered consultancy to business. His expertise and interests span a range areas and includes the Internet of things, cloud computing, green IT, IT for Emerging Regions, smart systems,  and automation and employment.

Dr Murugesan is co-editor of Encyclopedia of Cloud Computing (Wiley, June 2016). He is also co-editor of  Harnessing Green IT: Principles and Practices (John Wiley, 2012; Indian Edition, 2013), and editor of Understanding and Implementing Green IT (IEEE Computer Society, 2011) and Handbook of Research on Web 2.0, 3.0, and X.0: Technologies, Business, and Social Applications (Information Science Reference, 2009).  He has edited several special issues of international journals on a range of topics including Software Defined Networks, Cloud Computing, Green IT, Healthcare IT, Mobile computing, Future of Web Applications, and IT for Emerging Markets.

He serves on the Editorial Boards of IEEE Computer and IEEE The Institute. He edits and contributes to the "Cloud Cover" column in Computer. He serves in various review and advisory committees and editorial boards. . He is Standing Chair of the new COMPSAC Symposium on IT in Practice (ITiP).

Dr. Murugesan is a Fellow of the Australian Computer Society, a Fellow of IETE and a Senior Member of IEEE Computer Society. He holds Doctorate (PhD), Master in Technology and Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) degrees.
