Application Yields Self-Destructing E-mail or Text Messages

Wickr has developed an application that kills text or e-mail messages once a recipient has read them. Wickr encrypts communications end to end, and once viewed, erases them from the phone or servers used so that forensic attempts to recover them yield gibberish. Although the technology currently available only for Apple devices, Wickr is working on Android applications, versions for laptops and PCs, and plug-ins for e-mail programs such as Google’s Gmail or Microsoft Outlook.
