<p><b>Abstract</b>—We extend the theoretical results in [<ref rid="bibi05541" type="bib">1</ref>] to two distributions and provide a quantitative comparison of 1D morphological filter edge localization with two classical types of kernel-based smoothing filters (the mean and the close relative to morphological filters, the median). Implications in the context of statistical texture segmentation are briefly discussed.</p>
