ABSTRACT
Distributed discrete-event simulation is proposed as an alternative to traditional sequential simulation. The paper discusses some important issues associated with the implementation of parallel and distributed simulation. The topics that are covered are classical and new synchronization protocols. The effectiveness of different algorithms for asynchronous simulation is discussed based on the numerical tests results.
