ABSTRACT
The latest version of IEEE 802.11s draft proposes a simple hop-by-hop congestion control framework without the specific algorithm for congestion detection and local rate control. This paper presents a dynamic pricing policy and new rate control model based congestion control scheme which works at the data link layer (DLL) over IEEE 802.11s draft. We introduce dynamic pricing function as one of the important metrics to local rate control of neighboring nodes. An upstream node selects an optimal transmit rate based on the received price information from the downstream node, thus makes the channel resource utilization balance. The simulation result confirms that our dynamic pricing based congestion control is not only effective for alleviating congestion, but also can improve network performance, such as throughput, fairness and the ratio of packet loss.
