In order to achieve the double requirements of accurate calculation of flow simulation and saving calculation, a new method which was applied to joint flow simulation of a whole basin was brought forward. At the basic of one dimensional (1D) and two dimensional (2D) coupling hydrodynamic models, 1D and 3D & 2D and 3D coupling hydrodynamic model were introduced. In this paper, Finite difference method was used to solve the governing equations, when water level and discharge were equal respectively at the junction section. After this hydrodynamic model was applied in project planning of river network, lakes and estuaries, the shortcomings of time-consuming or big error in traditional methods have been overcome, the cost of computing could be saved a lot, and the entirety of simulation is improved. This model was applied in the basin of Huai River; and the results showed that the hydrodynamic model was reasonable.
