In this article, we define cross-reality as the union between ubiquitous sensor/actuator networks and shared online virtual worlds—a place where collective human perception meets the machines' view of pervasive computing. We describe how five of the articles in this issue expand on aspects of this theme.
cross-reality, augmented reality, mixed reality, sensor networks, virtual worlds, ieee, pervasive computing
