Despite the proliferation of service-oriented architecture (SOA) techniques for reusing software assets, Web service discovery remains an obstacle to fully realizing service-oriented computing. Given that Web service discovery is a key component in SOC, the lack of Web service quality standards and quality-based discovery mechanisms can stand in the way of dynamic business-to-business interactions. This article discusses the challenges associated with Web service discovery and proposes a solution based on the quality of Web service (QWS) concept.
