Issue No. 05 - September/October (1999 vol. 3)
<p>This month, <it>IC Online</it> explores radio-modem technology and satellite connectivity as a potential solution for bringing the Internet to the developing world. The authors describe their efforts in a project connecting science institutes in the Ashtarak region of Armenia. The project, sponsored by a NATO Networking Infrastructure Grant, has given approximately 200 scientists full access to the Armenian Scientific Data Exchange Network (ASDEN), as well as to the Internet and its services. For the rest of the story on the project, technologies, and lessons, check out this issue of <it>IC Online.</it></p><p><url>http://computer.org/internet/v3n5/armenia.htm</url></p>
