Service delivery is becoming a hot topic in transparent computing (TC). However, transfers in TC lack adequate support for applications with nonresident content and lower-latency requirements. In this article, the authors analyze the quantitative benefits attributed to TC (lower latency) and find that benefits can't be assured in multiple terminal machine scenarios. They propose a proof-of-concept design of a service-oriented and QoS-assured protocol, NSAP+, over an existing TC network architecture.
