CALLS FOR IEEE CS PUBLICATIONS

IEEE Transactions on Information Technology in Biomedicine will feature a special issue on mHealth: mobile technologies for health applications.

Potential topics include Web-based mobile medical systems; 2.5G/3G mobile systems and ad hoc networks; sensors and signal processing for mHealth applications;, space telemedicine and satellite applications; and standardization, regulation, and legal issues. Guest editors are Robert S.H. Istepanian from Brunel University, Emil Jovanov from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and Yuanting Zhang from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. IEEE Transactions on Information Technology in Biomedicine is now cosponsored by the IEEE Computer Society.

Submissions are being solicited for the March/April 2004 special issue of IEEE Internet Computing magazine on the topic of Internationalization of the Web. Of special interest are manuscripts related to multilingual information management for the Web: hosting text or documents containing words from more than one language. Other topics of interest include multilingual Web information systems, crawling and indexing multilingual documents, multilingual portal management, multilingual database management, multilingual data mining, and privacy and legal issues.

The guest editor for this issue is Stu Feldman of IBM's Research Division. Submit manuscripts by 31 Aug. to internet@computer.org.

The November/December issue of IEEE Security & Privacy will be devoted to Understanding Privacy: the technological, commercial, and social aspects of privacy as it relates to computing. Topics of interest include identity theft, consumer and business trends that affect privacy, information ownership,privacy leakage case studies, relationships and tradeoffs between security and privacy, and database issues in privacy protection. Feature articles should be no longer than 6,000 words (tables and figures count as 250 words each). Be sure to include all author names, professional affiliations, mailing addresses, daytime telephone numbers, and e-mail addresses.

Please submit manuscripts by 31 July to security@computer.org.
