<p>The information assurance discipline integrates several techniques developed over many years for assuring the integrity and availability of stored information--the modern enterprise's most important asset. At the highest level, information assurance consists of creating multiple copies of information; migrating the copies between different storage types; managing the consistency of these copies, especially in light of the intermittent connectivity between them; and replacing the information in one copy with information taken from another.</p>
