A nonperiodic near-Gaussian random number generator is introduced for the purpose of extraterrestrial terrain generation. In particular, the logistic formula and logit transform are used to produce interesting landscapes. The described approach is easily utilized in laboratory and classroom demonstrations, and has the potential for producing a wide range of fanciful terrain structures for movie special effects houses.
