Public clouds can offer numerous advantages over private, dedicated infrastructure, and are increasingly being used by businesses of all sizes in all industries. However, under the right conditions, hybrid clouds can optimize costs while still exploiting the benefits of public clouds such as geographic dispersion and business agility. Specifically, the cost structure of an enterprise IT shop must be competitive with that of the cloud provider, and demand must be variable.
