CS Press Author Argues for Offshore Maturity Model 

LOS ALAMITOS, Calif., 18 May, 2010 – The world of offshore outsourcing has matured considerably over the past five years, and US companies in many sectors are struggling to find the underlying factors that differentiate successful ventures from the often well-publicized, not-so-successful offshore initiatives.
 
Published by the IEEE Computer Society Press, "Key Lessons Learned in Offshore Outsourcing" is a bird's-eye view of the reality of program implementation -- a kind of offshore "fireside chat." Through relating lessons learned in process, organization, technical matters, and vendor oversight, author Tandy Gold hits upon approaches by which managers responsible for offshoring may claim a formidable edge in the marketplace.
 
“The underlying theme is that bad ethics equal bad business, and that you can't separate offshore outsourcing from ethics,” Gold said. “Not usually a topic for discussion in either the technical world of the Fortune 100, or an institute of engineering, but without this topic any real discussion of offshore is meaningless.”
 
Tandy Gold has over 21 years of technology experience in leadership roles at IBM, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, FleetBoston Financial, the MITRE Corporation, and the North Highland Company. Over a 21-year career, she has worked with leaders of Fortune 50 and 100 firms to apply and leverage the latest in technology, process, and organizational innovation to win in the marketplace. Author of the four-star book "Outsourcing Software Applications Offshore: Making it Work" (CRC Press, 2004), Gold is currently at work on a new full-length book, slated for publication in 2011.
 
As an adjunct faculty member of Boston University, Gold taught at the Metropolitan College of Graduate School of Computer Science for nine years. She is currently working with large clients in IT outsourcing.
