Q. Can you join Computer Society without joining IEEE?
Yes. You can join Computer Society without IEEE as an Affiliate Member. The cost of dues is $125 and includes only Computer Society benefits (not IEEE benefits, including IEEE Spectrum).
Q. What is the cost to join Computer Society?
- To join as an Affiliate Member (does not include IEEE): US$125
- To add Computer Society to an existing IEEE membership: US$56
- To join as a student (must belong to both IEEE and Computer Society): US$40 -- includes Computer Society Digital Library.
Q. Can I join online without using a credit card?
Yes. Computer Society offers several payment options. Simply complete the online application and proceed to checkout.
Once you have reviewed your cart on the IEEE CS checkout page, scroll down the page under the "payment" area, acknowledge that you have viewed the terms of membership, and select the link for "submit payment by mail" PDF.
Q. How do I set up my computer.org email alias?
Your Computer Society alias is not an e-mail account, but rather a forwarding service that directs mail to an existing e-mail address.
To use e-mail forwarding, begin by setting up an e-mail alias here.
You must have a Web Account to set up an alias, but you can't use your CS E-Account username as your firstname.lastname@example.org. It is possible to set your alias and your IEEE Web Account to the same name but it is not necessary. Once you set up your alias, it will become functional within 24 hours.
- Are you entering the correct e-mail address for your Alias?
You must enter your alias exactly as you registered it or mail that is sent to it will bounce. If you've forgotten your alias please send a message explaining the problem along with your member number to email@example.com
Q. What do I do if my computer.org email alias is not working?
- Do you still have access to your old e-mail address? (the one to which your alias is currently forwarding)
You can change the forwarding address yourself here. You will have to enter your Web Account information and your new e-mail address. A validation code will be sent to your old address along with the web address where you need to enter the validation code. The validation code must be entered on our site in order for your requested address change to become effective. After the change has been verified it will take up to 24 hours for mail sent to your alias to begin routing to the new e-mail address.
- No longer have access to your old e-mail address?
Please send your new e-mail address, your user name and your member number to firstname.lastname@example.org requesting the change. After the change has been made it will take up to 24 hours for mail sent to your alias to begin routing to the new e-mail address.
