Biography. Pierre Bourque is Dean of Studies of the École de technologie supérieure of the Université du Québec and is an Associate Professor in the Department of Software and IT Engineering. He was the Director of the Master in Software Engineering Program from 2005 to 2013. He also teaches graduate and undergraduate courses and does consulting work in software requirements. He was named to the Board of Governors of the IEEE Computer Society in 2010 and is an elected member for the period of 2011-2013.

He is also lead co-editor of the Guide to the Software Engineering Body of Knowledge (SWEBOK Guide) V3 and was co-editor of the 2001 and 2004 versions of the SWEBOK Guide. The SWEBOK Guide is also recognized as an ISO/IEC Technical Report. He is currently a member of the Computer Society's Professional Activities Board and its Software Engineering Committee. He served on the Nominations Committee (2011) and currently is a member of the Constitution and Bylaws Committee.

He received his PhD from the University of Ulster (Northern Ireland). Prior to his academic appointment, he was involved in software engineering, data modeling, and database design at the National Bank of Canada from 1987 to 1995.
