This package contains articles drawn from the files of the IEEE Computer Society's Digital Library and represent but a few of the more than 1,000 keystone pieces of information that provide readers an overview and in-depth look at the field of wireless telecommunications security. These classic articles provide those active in the field with a peer-reviewed basis for reference to experts. The articles also offer aspiring network security students insight into the many new and emerging means by which security of wireless systems has evolved over the past decade as well as insight into where future efforts may be focused.

I recommend that readers of this series of articles take advantage of the massive sources of material made available through the IEEE Computer Society's Digital Library to expand their knowledge even further than what these experts offer by subscribing to specific publications and taking advantage of the many continuing education courses made available to members and nonmembers on specific topics of interest.

The articles in this TechSet are my choices for learning about the background and issues associated with offering and maintaining security and privacy of information when accessible via a wireless service and in applying standards specifically developed to support the security of wireless networks. Some of the articles are now becoming dated, however, a review of these to enlighten you on the process provides you with needed understanding of the steps taken to arrive at what we have in today's ubiquitous wireless services.
