Jim Moore

 

Jim Moore currently serves as Vice President for Standards Activities, and Board of Governors with a term of 2001-2003.  Moore is a member of the IEEE Standards Board, chair of its Review Committee, and executive editor of the Software Engineering Body of Knowledge project. He is on the Management Board and Executive Committee of the Software Engineering Standards Committee (SESC). His book, Software Engineering Standards: A User's Road Map, was endorsed by SESC. Moore is chair of the US Technical Advisory Group for the International Standards Committee for Software Engineering.

Moore works as a senior principal engineer for the MITRE Corporation, a nonprofit company working in the public interest. Previously, he worked for IBM, where he was granted two patents.

Moore graduated with a BS in mathematics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an MS in systems and information science from Syracuse University.

He received the IEEE Third Millennium Medal and awards for Outstanding Contribution and Meritorious Service. A member of the Society's Golden Core, he won best paper awards at IEEE's Third International Conference on Software Reuse and the American Society for Quality's Eighth International Conference on Software Quality. He has been published in Communications of the ACM and IEEE Software.
