Computer Society Web Designer Wins Business Award
LOS ALAMITOS, Calif., 10 September, 2010 – Skylar Design, the firm that designed the IEEE Computer Society’s new home page, has been honored with a local business award for the third consecutive year.
Skylar Design, based in New York and Virginia, was selected for the 2010 Best of Huntington Award in the Web Design/Development category by the US Local Business Association. The USLBA "Best of Local Business" Award Program recognizes outstanding local businesses throughout the country. Each year, the USLBA identifies companies that they believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category.
In 2009, Skylar Design oversaw creation of the Computer Society’s new home page, which features slideshows, continually updated content, calendar listings, and rich media such as videos and podcasts. Skylar was pivotal in working with the Computer Society’s executive staff and Sales & Marketing and Information Technology & Systems departments in developing the home page’s new look and feel.
“The Computer Society’s new home page features a rich array of content reflective of the diverse technological interests of members of the world’s leading organization for computing professionals,” said Dick Price, director of Sales & Marketing. “Our aim in its development was to provide members with easily accessible and well-organized information and tools to make their membership even more valuable. We also wanted to showcase the organization’s offerings to draw new members into the fold.”
Skylar Design also worked on the newly designed membership benefits page, which attempts to place Computer Society benefits in one location for maximum usability and easy access; and on pages for the Computer Society Digital Library, among computer.org’s most-visited pages.
Nationwide, less than 1 percent of 2010 recipients qualified as three-time award winners. Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the winners in each category. The 2010 USLBA Award Program focused on quality, not quantity. Winners were determined based on the information gathered both internally by the USLBA and data provided by third parties.
The USLBA was established to recognize the best of local businesses in their community. The organization works exclusively with local business owners, trade groups, professional associations, chambers of commerce, and other business advertising and marketing groups. Its mission is to be an advocate for small and medium-size businesses and business entrepreneurs across America.
Skylar Design helps clients discover, design, and deploy strategic web-based and technical solutions. The company provides consulting, domain registration, and management, Web hosting, customized Web designs, CSS and XHTML programming, and website maintenance.
