New Digital Anthology from CS Press Highlights Green IT

LOS ALAMITOS, Calif., 12 August 2010 – Economic and environmental imperatives are driving companies and consumers worldwide to invest in green information technology. However, many stakeholders lack a comprehensive understanding of what “green IT” is, or what its implications can be for organizations, careers, and individual users.

Published by the IEEE Computer Society Press, Understanding and Implementing Green IT, an EssentialSet edited by San Murugesan, collects eight recent articles from the Computer Society’s Digital Library and frames them in the context of ongoing conversation about environmental responsibility in the workplace. The text is then followed with a list of additional references, to help the reader gain familiarity with the key resources and topics within green IT.

"Green IT represents a dramatic change in priorities for the entire IT industry, and it will be a topic of growing importance and interest for years to come," said Murugesan. "I hope this EssentialSet helps the community be better informed about green IT and assist in creating a sustainable environment that benefits current and future generations."

San Murugesan is a principal consultant at BRITE Professional Services, Australia, and is an adjunct professor at the University of Western Sydney.
