Spies Targeting Corporate Networks

According to a new report from InfoWorld, 75 percent of companies have been the victims of cyber-espionage. Cyberspies design their attacks to target specific firms conducting sensitive R&D or holding valuable information. InfoWorld claims that this sort of tech-espionage is frequently conducted by governments, particularly China; however, these hacks might not all be government-sponsored efforts. Some attacks are designed to gather information over long periods of time by using software that collects data and sends it back, often masked as typical network traffic.  Security experts say it’s difficult to assess how prevalent these attacks are because they’re not easy to identify.
