Project Proposes Finding Solution for Tech Skills Crisis on Transatlantic Flight

British Airways announced a project designed to solve the world’s technology skills “crisis” by placing 100 Silicon Valley CEOs, company founders, and venture capitalists on a private flight from San Francisco to London. UnGrounded project participants are expected to “design a platform to inspire and connect the next generation of innovators from the world of science, technology, engineering and mathematics to accelerate innovation in developed and developing communities.” An advisory panel is selecting the participants, who will be expected to immediately de-plane and present the resulting ideas at the Decide Now Act (DNA) Summit in June. TechWeek Europe called the project “a bid by BA to reinforce the value of executive travel, in the face of an increasing tendency to save money and carbon emissions by using videoconferencing instead.” (SlashDot)(TechWeek Europe)(DNA Summit)
