New Technology Detects and Blocks Botnet Activities

Indian computer scientists created an algorithm-based approach that can detect a botnet activity and blocks it from infecting a computer network. Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute researchers run a stand-alone, heuristic algorithm on each network node. When it finds any suspicious activity, it triggers a network-wide algorithm, which analyzes information transferred between the network hosts to determine whether the transmissions are legitimate traffic. Used in tandem, these algorithms can detect both known and unknown bot-related malware activity with a reduced number of false positives.
