Malware-Intelligence System Shares Threat Information

Georgia Institute of Technology researchers have developed a malware-intelligence system called Titan that will help corporate and government security officials share cyberattack information. The heart of the system is a shared threat knowledge base that includes a malware repository as well as anonymously contributed data regarding attacks that security experts will independently verify. There will also be a component that participants can use to educate their users on malware risks. Georgia Tech Research Institute security specialists will operate the system and screen the organizations that use Titan before they can participate. Titan reportedly has about six Fortune 500 participants, along with several government agencies and nonprofit organizations. The researchers say Titan, slated for further refinement and launch in several months, should prove particularly valuable to resource-strapped smaller organizations that could leverage the shared resources and expertise. (PhysOrg)(Georgia Institute of Technology)
